Reviewing the Benefits of Online Therapy in Florida

More and more people are turning to online therapy for help with a variety of issues, from depression to addiction. And now, thanks to a new law in Florida, online therapy is becoming even more popular. Find out why this growing trend is gaining popularity, and learn more about the benefits of online therapy.

The benefits of online therapy

Online therapy offers many benefits over traditional in-person therapy. For one, online therapy is more accessible and convenient, as it can be done from anywhere with an internet connection. It makes online therapy ideal for people who have busy schedules or live in rural areas without easy access to mental health professionals.

Online therapy is also more affordable than traditional therapy, which can often be expensive. It allows you to connect with a therapist from the comfort of your own home without having to pay for travel or parking costs.

Online therapy is confidential. You can feel safe knowing that your conversations with your therapist are private, and they will not share them with anyone else. Florida Statutes Section 90.503 goes further on the psychotherapist-patient privilege.

Who can benefit from online therapy

There are many people who can benefit from online therapy, including those who:

1. Are unable to access traditional therapy due to geographical location or mobility constraints.

2. Prefer the anonymity and convenience of doing a therapy session from the comfort of their homes.

3. Need flexible session times that fit around their busy schedules.

4. Feel more comfortable communicating via text, chat, or video than in person.

What to expect from online therapy

When you sign up for online therapy, you can expect:

1. A personalized treatment plan: Your therapist will work with you to create a treatment plan that meets your specific needs and goals.

2. Regular check-ins: You can expect to check in with your therapist regularly, usually once a week or every other week.

3. Flexible session times: Online therapy regular check-ins or follow-up sessions are typically shorter than traditional therapy sessions, and they can be scheduled at a time that works for you.

4. A confidential and secure platform: Online therapy platforms are required by law to protect your privacy and keep your information confidential.

The difference between a traditional model of mental health care vs the holistic one

When it comes to mental health care, there are two main models: the traditional model and the integrative/holistic model. The traditional model is based on the medical model of disease, which sees mental health issues as illnesses that need to be treated with medication and therapy. The integrative/holistic model sees mental health issues as a result of an imbalance in the mind, body, and spirit. This model focuses on treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of the illness. The traditional model of mental health care is the most common form of treatment in the United States. The holistic model of mental health care is less common but is growing in popularity.

There are many benefits to the holistic approach to mental health care. This model of care is more likely to address the root cause of the problem rather than just treating the symptoms. This model of care is also more likely to lead to lasting change as it integrates different areas of a person's life into the treatment.

If you are considering online therapy, we recommend you find a therapist who uses an integrative/holistic approach. It will give you a better chance to get the most out of your online therapy experience.

What to expect from your treatment at Levelheaded Mind

What to expect during your treatment with me:

1. During our first session, I will ask you questions about your mental health history and current symptoms, and I will ask you about your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve.

2. After our first one-on-one session, I’ll create a treatment plan.

3. Usually, therapy is one component, and psychiatric medication is another: I offer both. As a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, I will build your treatment plan based on a holistic approach. You’ll have the therapy session and the medication management with the same provider.

4. After creating your treatment plan, including medication when necessary, I will give you information about the therapy process and how it can help you.

5. As I develop the treatment plan, I will consider your medical history, diet, lifestyle, religion, spirituality, cultural beliefs, and if you are using supplements. Once I have all that information, I will be able to create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Holistic mental health care is about taking a comprehensive and individualized approach to treatment. It means that the therapist or counselor takes into account all aspects of your life when developing a plan to help you heal. And online therapy can offer you convenience, affordability, and accessibility. If you’re interested in trying online therapy, I’d be happy to help you find the right treatment for you.
